IMPORTANT: Guild Migration

Post  Acharis on Tue Mar 12, 2013 3:55 am

We all know KoH has been with Ferguson's Crossing from the beginning. We watched our sad and painful decline over the last 5 months to a now Tier 8 bottom of the barrel sever. It is heart breaking because everyone on FC are very friendly and helpful, but it seems that we just can't catch a break. This may be to do with fragmented leadership in WvW, lack of able bodies or just defeatist mentality. I have discussed this idea and have been mulling over it for a few months, but I think its time we made a decision; KoH to leave or stay in FC?

Many anyof our fellow guild members have been around since launch, leveled up together and have got to know each other well. As everyone started to reach level cap we preoccupied a lot of our time with dungeons and fractal runs, but ultimately we would come back to WvW. End game content is becoming stale, this is not due to all the lovely guild members we have, its just ANet failing to come up with other things to do. We're slowly loosing our KoH veterans but WvW seems to be the thing that people are coming back to participate in. This is why I feel as a guild we need to move on and try our luck else where. We have fantastic players who I feel are unable to shine in a situation such as this.

If we do decide to leave FC our greatest challenge will be to keep KoH members together, this may not be possible for some members due to the transfer fee. I have looked at the prices. To transfer to a high population sever it will cost 1000 gems, this works out to be around 20 gold (depending on the exchange rate). Very high population severs cost more 1800 gems (34 gold depending on the exchange rate). New members this may come as a surprise and a disappointment to you but fear not, we will try our best to not leave you out. It may not affect you now (depending on your characters level) but ultimately when you reach cap you'll also have to face this dilemma. Guesting is always available and dungeons can be run across severs, so if WvW is not a problem to you at the moment there is no rush; however, we'll try our best to make this relocation as easy as we can.

What I am asking from you all is your vote; what are your feeling/ideas of this movement. Also, do you have any recommendations on where we should move to. A guildie suggested maybe Tier 6 sever. This is the current leaderboard. Please do not hesitate to contact any of the other leaders or myself. If I am N/A in game write me a message here on the forum.

Thank you and I am looking forward to seeing your feedback.
See you in game Smile

I have talked to my brothers and and the 3 of us and our cousin (Pancratious) are willing to move. This has been a subject that the three of us have talked about multiple times, and in fact the only reason we truly stayed was all of you guild mates here at Koh. While The 3 of us have been Ferg members since game Launch, we have become frustrated with the general lack of activity in the server. As Pride Put it, "I have been sitting at 99% world completion since November and there is no hope in sight that I can get the last WvW Vistas I need." I personally have 2 characters at over 90% world completion.

I have yet to consult my cousin (he goes to Uni and works part time) but I doubt it will be a issue cause he only gets on to play with friends.

Pride will be paying for his Transfer, and I will picking up the tab on myself, Woe and Pancratious, other wise I would help out some of our new members make the change as well.

In short, the Form brothers are in so long as where ever we go they are not known for their nasty attitude.

Whatever server pride I had died after about the 100th time I got stampeded by SF so I'm voting we leave. I don't have the gold to pay for my transfer yet and likely several members don't so I suggest we do some guild dungeon farming to help people out

Re: IMPORTANT: Guild Migration

Post  geekanerd on Tue Mar 12, 2013 8:23 pm

I've been thinking a lot about this for some weeks now. As I know a lot of us have. W3 is my end game content. It's really the only thing I want to do with my 80s, save an occasional Dungeon or Fractals run here and there. And as we all also know, it's just not terribly enjoyable out there right now.

But, I'm advising we wait. Save up some gold, for sure, but lets not make a hasty jump. Though what concerns me most at this point is exactly how much of the guild is willing to make the leap -- for me, there's no point in transferring servers if the majority of the active Guild doesn't go for it -- and the options we have surrounding that. The bigger problem is that the best options have the murkiest chances. Clearly, for me, the best thing that could happen is we get some sort of official response or fix from ArenaNet about tier 8's issues. However, there hasn't been any official word from on top for months regarding tier 8. Maybe they're just hoping SF will eventually claw out of tier 8 on their own, no matter how devastating it is to the moral of Ferg and Eradon. Maybe they just don't give a shit. Who knows?

Point is, a fix could come next week. It could come next month. It may never come. We don't know. And that is what makes any potential move tough. I would /prefer/ to stay in Ferguson's Crossing, and I would tough it out if I knew something was going to change. But we don't. So the issue turns into when is enough enough? For me, I'm willing to give it to the end of March or so. I want to see what sort of change the big WvW patch this month will have on Ferg participation. I want to see if in the next few weeks SF can make enough gains on tier 7 that their moving seems more like an inevitability than a pipe dream. It's few big 'ifs'. Yet, I'm willing to hang on to see it play out.

I'm aware as anybody that Guild participation has slacked off in recent weeks. I'm sure there's plenty of reasons for this. Burnout, schooling, work, varioius RL pressures, girlfriends making some poor sap watch Bridget Jones' Diary whilst he looks longingly at his PC, on top of end game content being... lackluster. Especially for us WvWers. I get it. Hell, I've had to cut my own time back considerably because of work. And as soon as summer gets here in force, I'll be gone for weeks at a time because of my job. Unfortunately, I get shipped to places with no internet access. Them's the breaks for paying the bills, ya know? However, I think that a lot of those who are not around as much -- or at all -- as of late will come back. Some won't. It's the nature of these things. Either way, I'd like to thank everyone who logs on at least a few times a week and keeps the ol' roster green. I know I appreciate it. It keeps that influence up so we can keep some many of those guild buffs running all the time, especially that excellent 10% magic find.

Anyway, I've gone on too long as it is. For those still reading this drivel, you're champions and gluttons for punishment. But I just wanted to make sure I reinforce my perspective that we don't jump ship prematurely. Lets see what happens by April. If the ship is still sinking by then, by all means, lets get the hell out. Tier 6 seems like good compromise between server size, tier flexibility, and balance. I want to see more suggestions, though. Thanks guys and I'll see y'all out there.

Re: IMPORTANT: Guild Migration

Post  Madness Given Form on Wed Mar 13, 2013 11:06 pm

After reading Geek's (Gage's right?) comments I agree that we should not rush things.

Lets set a time frame of until the 24th of this month for people to post what server they would want the guild to migrate to and why that server. This gives us time to discuss IF we should move as well as the Pros and Cons. Should we then make the decision around the time of the 24 to proceed forward i would recommend waiting until the weekend of April 14th to Make the move.

Personally I am in favor of the move at the moment but then as Geek pointed out, things can change by then. This also gives us time for Anet to Come out with a solution to the problem of End game content.

The way I look at this is one in which on one side we have to give players who have been discouraged by the lack of End game content to log on and find out about the move to give them a chance to fallow, give time for players who want to stay with the guild time to earn the gold necessary to buy the gems for the move, and while on the other hand we cannot wait too long as ever more of our active players will give up and leave.

ok, im rambling and not making much sense at the moment, but I hope you can puzzle it out.

Questions I do have:
1:What goes with us as far as upgrades, content in guild bank, influence, ect.?
2:Dose guild chat cross servers?
3: How many people are actually in favor of such a move? At this time I can presume, Arch, Grin, Pat, Gages, 3 GF Bros, GF cousin. There is 8 members and at least 2 will rarely log on due to RL. I figure that at least 25 - 35 members need to make the move for it to be worth while.

food for thought.

food for thought.

Earbert/Poopdeck/Persephone, actually. But I'll take being pegged as Gages as a compliment.

1. Excellent question. The only answer I have is a partial one. When I transferred to Sorrow's Furnace to get my world complete a few month's back, I noticed that some of our guild upgrades weren't there. There was no guild vault, I know that for fact. What I don't remember for sure is if everything was locked out to upgrade again. I have a niggling feeling that it was. But I just don't remember for certain.

2. Yes.

3. I think that list is correct except instead of Gages it'd be Earbert or whatever character fits the bill. I definitely have some concerns here. Some of our well known very-actives are, as you've pointed out, aren't as active right now. And to be honest there are several people who rep the guild that I don't know at all. I guess I worry a bit because I have it on very good authority that after the fairly known guild TTA moved to... I think it was Borlis Pass, now I don't remember for sure. Anyhow, after their move they've largely dissolved and several members are coming back to Ferg.

So, obviously, a move doesn't necessarily solve everything. There's a lot to consider here. I'd definitely like to see more input on this.

Finaly a discussion on this :)

Post  hades etrus(menios) on Thu Mar 14, 2013 6:03 am

This issue has been on everyones mind i guess more so on 80 lvl players! although i love fc my love for our guild and the friends that i made on this guild is even greater! i hate to see our guild to become quiet due to low interest for the end game(since we are loosing). so i vote yes but if ppl decide to stay ill stay with KoH!
We dont have to go to a very high population server it just needs to be competitive and give us nice moments and real competition! Anyway i was collecting money for legendry and to buy commander manual but im willing to give this money to assist ppl that are also willing to transfer with guild but of course are loyal too, i dont want to see anyone left behind!

KNIGHTS OF HELIOS FOREVER Very Happy HEHE

Sorry about the mistake Earbert (for some reason I get you and gages Mixed up.) Embarassed

With Hades in that Makes it: 9

Grin
Arch
Pat
Earbert
Hades
Pride
Woe
Pan (my cousin)
Mad

Thank you for the info on my questions, it helps me here with the next thing I am posting.

My brothers and I live in Washington State and starting at 8:00 PST we will be doing every dungeon explorer path, Starting at Ascalon Catacomes and working our Way to Arah. I dont know what time we will be doing what but we will have 2 empty slots for each dungon run we do so if you are working on your dungeon master title, hit us up for what you need, or if you need gold hit us up for what you can tolerate.

On that end I Recommending that the guild only LOAN out any gold for the transfer and not simply give it away, and all of us that feel charitable can donate to the guild to have that person move.
For example if Extreempants (yes I am picking on you because you are not logging on lately) dose not have the 20 gold, then we can raise the donation cup and we get 5 or 6 people to donate 5 or so gold each. Then we ask this person to pay it back to the guild for any person who later on (after the move) wants to transfer. After the move is done and so long as each member pays it back the guild should have alot of gold on hand after the move.

On another note I would like to have one person in charge fill up their personal bank and characters carrying capacity with items from the guild bank. If the vast majority of members the contributed to the guild bank transfer over then it simply makes sense for the contents to fallow suit. I just want it posted on the forums the name of the person responsible for these items so they do not get left behind, or dispersed into someones personal collection who never contributed to the guild bank in the first place.

and last but not least by any means, Hades comments about simply a active server is correct, but I would like to point out that we do not want to transfer to any server that is in Teir 7 or 8 because there is no reason to leave Ferg for a different server that stands a reasonable chance of landing us right back at this same crossroad.

Thank you all for reading my ramblings.

Re: IMPORTANT: Guild Migration

Post  Acharis on Thu Mar 14, 2013 7:39 pm

Hey guys I really appreciate your insights. If you guys follow the blogs on GW2 they claim they have 'the end of culling' this will be released on the 26th. I have also spoken to Gages (Greystroke) he said he will have to think about it more. So maybe we should extend the time frame a little by a few days. I have also thought we should have some test runners who are willing to jump a sever just to test it out. I have also thought about people who have commander upgrades; will this become a problem when swapping severs due to anonymity?

Sorry if I have made a bunch of mistakes. Typing on my phone. Please get back to me Very Happy

Moving?

Post  Rohain on Fri Mar 15, 2013 9:32 pm

I wouldn't mind moving another. But, the cost is crazy. I've been playing since the start and it just takes so long to get gold. I'm thinking that the majority of the guild should be on the same page. There has definitly been a big lag in the last week. It seems like there's fewer each day. I like being in a guild that actually gets along.

i been working alot and havent been on when everyone else is, but the last few times ive played, i log on and go to wvw and see that we own 2 camps. and have a 5 man zerg. its rather depressing and doesent exactly motivate me to play wvw much. and trying to recruit is useless it seems all the ferg people dont want to unite or cordinate at all. last time. i would say no to a migration but i feel i have given ferg enough effort without anything in return, and i now would not oppose the move, so count me on board. *throws KOH gang sign*

Re: IMPORTANT: Guild Migration

Post  Madness Given Form on Sat Mar 16, 2013 9:37 am

To Acharis's Point:
I think the soonest we can move in realistic terms is a about a month simply because of how many of our guys have become less active because of the lack of end game content.

To Roahain's Point:
The quickest away I have found go gain gold is dungeon runs of a fast dungeon, and not repeating the same run before server reset. I figure that without drops each run (if you dont die more than few times) can net, not gross, but net between 50 - 75 silver. I have a full suit of HoW for madness and a full suit of CoF for Mischief and that took about 60 runs. I earned about 45 gold off those runs and I did it in about 5 - 6 weeks by running 2 paths of each dungeon every day. (4 dungeon runs a day was the goal)

From the Drops I earned another 10 - 20 gold. (most of the time the drops were lousy and I almost never got a rare and in all those runs I got like 2 exotics. Most of that gold came from blue and green items.)

How long did it take? 2 - 5 Hours a day depending on the skill of the guys your running with. I know that my best time on CoF path 1 (with another member of KoH I might add, and not one of my bros.) he arranged a group that knew what we were doing and did path 1 in like 12 or 13 min and then did path 2 in 30 min or so.. I just remember that we did them so fast that we almost hit DR.

In Comparison, Good Team mates can make this go by so much faster, by comparison one time I ran CoF path 2 with my brothers and 2 people from other servers who did not know what they were doing, when it came to the point of protecting magg it took us 3 hours to do that one part because those two died immediately every time. And the 3 of us had to finish it.

To Mallotov's Point: I agree, if you asked me of this two months ago I would have given a flat no, but since then the number of players logging onto this server has steadily gone down and you accurately pointed out the results.

Fund raising

Post  Mallotov on Sun Mar 17, 2013 2:53 am

since there is still newbies coming into the guild, and seeing how the transfers will cost money i was thinking, perhaps we could do something like a few gold grinding events, and just take all money earned and store it into the guild bank, in order to assist to pay for transfers for n e one wishing to come along for migration but cant afford it.

We should get some days allocated to do this probably twice a week, get as many groups going as we can. I'm unsure how to farm AC these days but CoF is a great farming dungeon and also fractals is amazing for gear to sell and get some extra money.

I have also arranged for myself to scout Darkhaven this week! I'll keep you guys posted on my findings and let you know if it's suitable for KoH. I want everyone to be happy with sever we do decide to go to. If anyone else is willing to scout around, let me know. I'll help fund the trip!

I'll also change the guild message soon to include some of what we have spoken about here on the forum to let people know whats happening. I may also need a few of you guys to help send some messages around so that everyone is in the loop and know what's going on. I'll probably put the template up here so you can copy and paste it into the messages (kind of silly that here is no way to mass message everyone in the guild other than by guild message of the day, but I feel as though its not very effective)

Thanks again guys!

I'm only about a 10-hour per week guy, but I log on for the KOH activities mainly. I've been out due to business travel and vacation, not b/c of the lack of interest. I'm for the move. Legendaries aren't important to me...I'll help where I can.

Quick Update

Post  Acharis on Sat Mar 23, 2013 11:02 am

So I have been at Darkhaven for a week now. At the beginning I saw that DH was having the same problems we have. Anvil rock owned a lot of EB and other maps. Anvil Rock got bumped up to T5 and now our old friends Devonas Rest are with DH. So the ranking now stands with Darkhaven in front owning stonemist and the majority of EB; Isle of Janthir coming in second and Devonas last (mwahaha). It is looking good at the moment even though I only had a few hours to join in WvW in the morning. I will keep you updated and I will try to get into WvW as much as possible. My PC is out of action again, but I will try my best.

At the moment I am not comfortable with you guys joining me in DH. I know that I am able to fund my own transfer back to FC if things do not work out, but I don't want people to fork out the cost at the moment. I will keep you guys posted.

Gotcha, But if you want someone to explore another server even higher on the teir list I volunteer. I know the costs and I am willing to pay them. (or if you want the funds to do it yourself)

I'd like to wait a bit before we decide where to move

Post  Compendious.One on Sat Mar 23, 2013 11:30 pm

I have to see what my husband and two friends want to do. I want to reconnect with my old GW friends and I'll ask what server they are on. They are both named Matt, funny huh. Basically good Matt and bad Matt LOL!

We need to let new guildies save up the gold for gems. When we get a list of the three servers we will consider we can call a series of meetings and have everyone vote.

I admit I am picky about the name of the server. No dark, evil, or sad names for me. Razz

Agreed, I think that we should wait and see because we may just end up with a guild from a higher tier server transferring to us in order to make a name for themselves.
